Daily update 10/10/24

Schedule
FRIDAY – 10/11 – FEMA reps will be here from 9 am – 5 pm to discuss individual needs that people have, help to apply for assistance, etc.  In addition, Julie Mansfield and Greg Everline will be here from NOON – 5pm to assist with insurance, FEMA appeals, etc.  **Just a note, if you applied for FEMA $750 disaster survivor aid and checked NO to “Do you have an emergency” – they will deny your claim.  The FEMA rep out earlier this week considers having to throw away all of the food from the power being out, or missing work because of a natural disaster – those count as an emergency.
Also Friday, there is a free vet clinic offered with Madison County Animal Control from 11-3 pm at the SCCC.
And finally, Friday will also host a art circle from 3:30 – 5pm in the gym – this is an event open to children, and also anyone else wanting to play around.  We have some large “Thank you” posters that we are trying to get to some of the churches and communities that have gone above and beyond helping out our community members.
We are switching our daily 9:30 am meeting to JUST Tuesdays and Thursdays, so no meeting until Tuesday 10/15.
We will be CLOSED on Sunday – traffic has slowed for the donations (we had no donations today, only redistribution from Madison County).

Peer support group
Due to Keith’s work schedule, he will be scaling back support group to once daily.
Friday 10/10 will still be both noon & 3 pm.
Saturday 10/11 – noon only
Sunday – none – SCCC Closed
Monday 10/14 – noon
Tuesday 10/15 – noon
Wednesday 10/16 – 3 pm
Thursday 10/17 – 3 pm
Friday 18 – Sunday 20 – NO GROUP
Repairs
There is a whiteboard sign up in the gym for anyway who needs help from the community to clean up their property or sign up for firewood.
There is also a section for anyone who wants to HIRE help: house cleaning, general tasks, etc.  We are a tourism-based economy in a lot of respects between vacation rentals, rental cabin cleaning, restaurant work. A lot of our neighbors are looking for work so if you are in a position of wanting to hire help, let’s please get you connected.
Volunteers Needed:
We have stain for the new firewood shed – we would love some brushes and rollers and people who might volunteer to get that sealed. The lumber used is untreated so we need to be sure to seal it. Please respond if you can volunteer for that project!  We also need brushes and rollers.
We are starting to do a sign-up sheet for staffing the donation distribution center between the hours of 10-5:30 pm.  Sign up is in the donation area – please sign up if you can help.

Medical
Madison County is offering tetanus shots at Nonostead in Marshall.  If you haven’t updated yours in the last 10 years, now is the time to do it!
