Samantha McLaughlin, Hair by Samantha

Hair by SamanthaWhy did you choose Spring Creek for part of your business?

I chose Spring Creek because during the hurricane I realized how many people in our community needed a hair stylist closer to home so they didn’t have to travel so far.

What does community mean to you?
To me community means having a sense of family, having a group of people who are alike and different in so many ways, that come together and help and support each other.

How did you get into the work you do?

When I was a little girl my mom went to Cosmetology school and had this huge bag of hair supplies and mannequins that I loved to play with, and growing up I was the older sister who got to do everyone’s hair. It was just something that came natural to me.

How long have you been in your industry?

I have been doing hair for a little over 10 years.

Do you live in Spring Creek?

I live off Meadow Fork and have lived here for almost 12 years.

What do you love most about Spring Creek?

I love living in Spring Creek because everyone is always so kind and willing to help each other out. I love the small community we live in. Coming from living in Asheville its nice to live in the mountains and I love how peaceful it is.

Do you have any pets?

We have the most amazing dog, a black lab named Max, who I am sure anyone who lives on Meadow Fork has met.  We also have 3 hunting dogs; Drive, Preach and Oakley.

Is there anything unique about you that you would like to share with the SC community?

I didn’t always know that I wanted to be a hair dresser, I graduated high school with my Early Childhood Education Teaching Credentials and my CNA license. I went to school for Medical Assisting AND did some schooling in Social Work. Hair is my passion and its what makes me happy. I love making people feel good about themselves.
