The Spring Creek Community Center mission is to promote a sense of cooperation, stewardship, and caring for local heritage; to improve the economic circumstances of the community; and to serve the social and educational needs of residents.
WHO WE ARE NOW
Madison County Government owns the Spring Creek Community Center building. However, the building is leased by a 501(c)3, “Spring Creek Community Center,” who manages the building and grounds.
Within the building are 3 distinct “sections” which we refer to as Phases. Two of these sections/phases are renovated allowing us to offer a variety of activities and services:
- Restaurant (Dave’s 209)
- Alternative Medicine Co-op (Massage therapy and Acupuncture)
- Private Library with high-volume printer
- Gymnasium/auditorium
- Small meeting space (Suite 5)
We are particularly proud of our community library. This space currently has a large number of donated books, videos, and puzzles. There is a children’s nook for events targeted for the little ones in our community. The new printer for our business center is currently located in the library. Our library was made possible from a donation by Thad and Ingrid Davis in honor of their two boys.
The hallway behind the restaurant is full of school and family picture memorabilia. Spend some time getting to know our community by exploring this area.
In the gymnasium/auditorium and Suite 5 we are able to host community gatherings, educational events, exercise class, community potlucks, craft and activity nights, art classes, and much more. We fundraise throughout the year and offer events including the Community Yard Sale and the Annual Car Show & Pie Contest. Since the center has the luxury of a gymnasium, we are able to offer a variety of exercise options that include Forever Fit (strength, flexibility, balance, cardio) and Pickleball which has practice and play times every week.
There are monthly Activity Nights for all ages that include Bingo, craft nights, board and outdoor games, and more. We also arrange for presenters to come in and provide information and education on a variety of topics including CPR & AED training, beekeeping, resources for aging, local environmental information about invasive species and land conservation. We are open to hosting a variety of other types of events and are always looking for more ways we can serve the community.
The gymnasium/auditorium and Suite 5 are both available to rent for private parties such as birthday parties, baby showers, even wedding receptions.
The entire Spring Creek campus has complimentary high-speed internet and we encourage people to log on and enjoy your time on our campus.
Behind the community center is a Senior Nutrition Meal Site (operated by Madison County) where those 55+ can meet with friends, watch TV, and enjoy a free lunch 4 days a week. Located next door in the same building is the Food Pantry. Twice per month families in need are able to load up with non-perishable/canned food, meat, fresh vegetables, dairy, and miscellaneous frozen items.
As we look forward to Phase 3 renovations, we are excited to expand our office space rentals as well as provide a business center available to all community members that will include computer usage for things like tele-medicine and other important and confidential on-line appointments. A high-volume printer and copier will be available for the community to use. Phase 3 also includes a high-tech classroom that will be equipped to host in-person, hybrid, and virtual classes. AB-Tech and our Cooperative Extension have already signed on to participate in educational opportunities. We encourage people to come to our campus to enjoy a variety of activities including a meal, exercise, checking out a book, and even relaxing on the deck to enjoy the view.
